Hey all,
I just got back from a great bike ride where I had plenty of time to ponder what I’ve been doing these last few weeks. Unfortunately, it seems like the demand for that CGCodex website isn’t going to be high enough for me to continue with it. I think most people are content to either use atrocious free websites or buy DVDs from Gnomon.
First of all, I’m wondering what to do with this library of 3d tutorials I have from that project. There’re about 800 of them and they’re categorized and tagged. Should I post them to a “Offsite” section of the blog and link to them?
Next, I’m wondering what my next move in 3d is going to be. I’ll probably get back to basics and do a few modeling competitions. But after that I’m thinking of making a 3d training course (similar to the Monday Movies but longer, more concentrated, and probably for $10-$25). Think there would be any interest in something like that?

I really like your tutorials. You’re the only one I found to show to to make text that is smooth. You say you have 800, though I’ve only see around 20. Where are the rest? Why can’t you post them on this site? VRay is my (in 3ds-Max) intrest where I need the most help. There was a book, but it was pulled from the market. So the only other source is sites like this.
Bruce.

You gotta know the market and be focused. Which people you gonna make tuts for? Beginners, that need overall generalist training? Make a lot of basic tuts in every field. From there up – you need to focus it on a field, that people can use to get better in a given field. That would be useful.

Hey Bluesummers,
I don’t know if the ‘back to basics’ is a good idea. I think that those basic tutorials were greatly dony by Buzz3D and friends. They have these kind of tutorials on their website (I think it’s free) and they fully explain everything from the UI to modelling basics, so I don’t know if there is any need of making such tutorials any more
Monday movies were great, because of their focusing on those little problems that bothered some people. Every video was short and talked about specified problem. I don’t know if the longer videos would get such an interest, unless you tag and describe them very well, so the people would know that the topic they are looking for is in this particular video
As for me – I like your videos and the way you explain things. You have this rare gift of describing those hard topics in an easy way, so if the movies were targeted to the problems that I’m bothering with, I’m certain that I would buy them
Cheers

PS.
I’m going for a bike trip too, and I hope to gather all of my problems and drown them in the lake, which is my destination

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I’m thinking hard about what you’ve said and I’ll comment more in a bit. For now, I’m just doing a little general maintenance to the site so if you see things acting funny that’s what that is.

Mr.Bluesummers, as said in other comments, your tutorials are so very informative and have helped me learn alot about 3DS MAX. I am teaching my self via videos like yours and reading some stuff on the net.
Hope to see more from you soon, keep up the great work

You need to give your CGCodex website more time to mature.
Maybe it needs to be for the community by the community. Its going to take an awfully long time for one person to add and check the contents. So the best way to add and detail them are by community members that have tried the resource. Not totally sure of how you could do it, but something like X comments means it real or something similar.
With respects to your Monday movies, they are brilliant. You always learn something and you put it across in a way that is easy for all levels to pick up. I would really like to see them continue.
As for a longer series, maybe you could do projects that build upon those ideas and result in final pieces.
Whichever way you go I would just like to thank you personally for time to create these wonderful resources. I wish you all the best in your future & current projects.
