Hey all,

I’m in the process of upgrading my computer and during the windows re-install process my backup hard drive decided it would be funny to erase it’s partition. I’m trying to get it back, but it’s unlikely I’ll be able to get it working by Monday. It had the pending episode and all of my resources like the bumper footage.

More to follow as it happens. On the bright side, two SSDs in a RAID0 array is pretty sweet.

In this week’s video tutorial we’ll be learning about how you can combine the slice and cap holes modifier in order to create cross sections of your 3d models. Remember that you’ll need to use closed geometry in order for this technique to work properly!

Cross Sections

Hey all,

I’m going on vacation to San Diego until Monday.  I’m still expecting to get another Monday Movie out by Tuesday morning so sit tight.  This has been a rough transition, but I think once we’re back on track the posting will be more reliable.

This week we’ll be taking a look at how you can set up a depth of field blur effect in VRay for 3d Studio Max.  Since it’s as easy as clicking a checkbox, we’ll also go over how to adjust the effect to different distances and set the quality level so that renders don’t take so long.

VRay Depth of Field

The site is starting to look more like what I want.  The next steps are going to be getting back on track with the Monday Movies and re-tagging the posts so that their easier to find.  Please feel free to use the feedback box I included in the side bar- it really helps me aggregate what everyone’s looking for.

So far I’ve only gotten about 4 respondents and they said they want more Modeling and VRay tutorials so I guess that’s what I’ll do.  Tonight I’ll wrap up the latest episode and see if I can get to work on another one.  I’ve got some good stuff lined up for you so stay tuned!
